Burton Bradstock (1861)

This place for a long time has been in a very low state concerning the Lord's work, until April 24, when the people began to be in earnest for their salvation. The Lord has heard and answered them in a very special manner. Since April 24, I think about sixty have been brought to a knowledge of the truth as it is in Jesus, from seven to eighty years of age, and are now enjoying the forgiveness of sins. This glorious work is not without a great deal of persecution from all quarters, and more so from the parents of the children that have been converted to God. They have been known to come and drag them from the house of prayer and threatened them with severe punishment if they go to the prayer-meeting. Those children that have been brought to a knowledge of the truth, as soon as they found the Pearl of great price, have immediately prayed for their friends, and they have been known to come up to the door to hear if they are praying for them, and have threatened them with severe punishment if they prayed for them. Will the readers of the Revival unite with us in prayer for a glorious outpouring of the Holy Spirit on this dark Sabbath-breaking village, and to God's name we do and shall give all the glory.
