Abermeurig Welsh Calvinistic Methodist Chapel (1905)

We are pleased to inform you that it continues, and is gradually intensifying, deepening and spreading. One proof of that is that the meetings continue to be popular and there is a demand for more of them. Four week-night meetings have been held so far; but as this week is the usual week of prayer, it is an exception to the Revival meetings. Indications now are that every week from now on will have to be like the Week of Prayer. This week has received a great welcome this year, seeing that it has been held without interruption from one revival to the other – having been begun in 1860 as a product of the great revival of 1859, and so has been carefully and respectfully kept for 45 years, until it fell in the midst of the 1904 Revival. And let us hope that this will be the 1905 Revival, since this will be its great year, and throughout the year, although it has worked wonders in 1904, as in the 1859 revival, which worked great wonders in the final months of 1858. We were very confident, seeing the week of prayer approaching this year, as over 20 of the sisters were to take part in it, and they have so far taken on just as much work as the brothers. This was not a great number in a church of 115, but in comparison with some churches which numbered many more members, we were very grateful for so many who were willing to take a public part in the work at such a cold time for religion. But the old harp of the revival has this year had much work to sing “Thanks be to Him," seeing about 50 prepared to approach the throne of grace publicly, besides several young people who are bowed at their own meetings.

Additional Information

Pedwar cyfarfod or nosweithiau gwaith sydd wedi eu cynal, hyd yma; ond gan fod yr wythnos hon yr wythnos weddi arferol, mae yn eithriad i gyfarfodydd y Diwygiad. Yr argoelion yn awr yw bod yn rhaid i bob wythnos o hyn allan fod fel yr Wythnos Weddi. Y mae yr wythnos hon wedi cael croesaw mawr y flwyddyn hon wrth ei gweled wedi cael ei chynal yn ddifwlch o un diwygiad i'r llall--wedi cael ei dechreu yn 1860, fel cynyrch diwygiad mawr 1859, ac felly wedi cael ei chadw yn ofalus a pharchus am 45 mlynedd, nes dyfod r ganol Diwygiad 1904. A gobeithio mai Diwygiad I905 fydd y diwygiad hwn, gan mai hon fydd ei flwyddyn fawr, ac ar ei hyd, er ei fod wedi gwneyd rhyfeddodau yn 1904, fel y bu gyda diwygiad 1859, yr hwn a wnaeth ryfeddodau mawrion yn misoedd olaf 1858. Yr oeddym yn hyderus iawn wrth weled yr wythnos weddi yn dyfod y flwyddyn hon, gan fod dros 20 o'r chwiorydd i gymeryd rhan ynddo, ac y maent wedi bod hyd yma yn cymeryd llawn cymaint o waith a'r brodyr. Nid oedd hyny ond ychydig mewn eglwys o in; ond mewn cymhariaeth i rai eglwysi oedd yn rhifo llawer mwy o aelodau, yr oeddym yn dra diolchgar am gynifer yn barod i gymeryd rhan gyhoeddus yn y gwaith mewn amser mor oer ar grefydd. Ond cafodd hen delyn y diwygiad lawer o waith y flwyddyn hon i ganu "Diolch Iddo," wrth weled oddeutu 50 yn barod i nesau yn gyhoeddus at orsedd gras, heblaw amryw o rai ieuainc sydd yn plygu yn eu cyfarfodydd eu hunain.
