1785 Tonyrefail, Glamorganshire. ‘In the year 1785 the Lord visited his people with a powerful revival in this place, which gave a powerful forward impulse to the cause. This revival drew a great number of people to the public meetings from Pencoed, Llantrisant, Llanwno; even some from Caerphilly, fifteen miles away. The means were crowned with powerful influences, so that there was the “sound of song and praise in the gates of the daughters of Zion.” Then their mouths were filled with laughter, and their tongues with singing; and then it was said among their neighbouring brethren, “The Lord has these great things.” This revival raised up “an afflicted and poor people” to public notice respect; others clave to them, saying, “Let us go with you, for we see that God is with you.” Among others that pressed in at this time was a young lad of 16 years old, of the name of Dafydd Evan; who was of great service to them in his day. There are no remarkable circumstances connected with this lad; [MC iii. 73-4]
