Covenant Signing - Lanark (1638)

'I was present at Lanark and at several other parishes, when on a Sabbath after the afternoon sermon, the Covenant was read and sworn, and may truly say that in all my life, except one day in the church of Shotts, I never saw such motions from the Spirit of God: all the people generally and most willingly concurring, where I have seen above 1000 persons all at once lifting their hands, and the tears dropping down from their eyes.'
