William Hay Aitken wrote years later about the results of the meetings, he and his father did in the town.
'Upwards of 100 young men profess to give themselves to God. A good Christian man who resided there, and helped me in the movement, came to see me a year later, when I was a curate in London. He was a cautious, Scott – a man, whom I would never expect of exaggeration; but when I eagerly asked him, how the young man was standing, he replied deliberately enough, ”They are standing right well!”'
