Hawick (1848)

The Congregational minister started protracted meetings to raise the spiritual atmosphere in the town. The meetings grew so they had to move, and then they moved again to the Subscription Rooms, but they had to turn people away from there as well.

A new Evangelical Union church was formed with 45 members and a week later it had doubled in size.

Thanks to Tom Lennie's, 'Land of Many Revivals', pages 472-3.

Additional Information

I do not know where the Subscription Rooms were.
