Llandegla (1859)

In a communication from Llandegla, in Flintshire, it is stated:—" Many hundreds of persons, and many of them the most ungodly in the neighbourhood, have, within the last fortnight, turned their faces to the various churches. On Sunday, the 25th inst., the outpouring from on high was both powerful and plentiful. When it was published on Sunday evening, at the Calvinistic Methodist Chapel, that a society meeting would be held after the service, all the congregation, with two exceptions, remained; and on the following Tuesday those who did not remain on Sunday applied for admission into the church. Thus all the hearers have become members or candidates for membership." From ‘The Welsh Revival’ by Thomas Phillips.
