Carlisle - Salvation Army (1881)

Carlisle is still going ahead, God Almighty is saving sinners and raising his own people higher. Hallelujah! Our meetings are blessed, melting, refining and saving times; souls nearly every night. Praise the Lord forever! Our Friday night Holiness meetings was grand, several out for the blessing of Holiness. Saturday night Free and Easy. Glory to God!

Sunday was a day of power and blessing, 140 at kneel drill. God came down upon us in a remarkable mannner. Open-air; march is grand; theatre packed at night; crowning time after three hours and a half hard fighting. We finished with 18 prisoners taken from the enemy; more to follow, keep believing.

From,'The War Cry', August 1881.

The captain says it is better than ever. We are getting a good hold upon the city, such as we have not had since we commenced here. Sunday was a crowning day; 220 soldiers in the march. Theatre packed in every corner. 33 souls last week and they are still coming out for God.

From, 'The War Cry', October 1881.

These are just two examples of what was happening here. More reports can be seen from the War Cry in past and future years.
