Camborne - Salvation Army (1882)

A gentleman says the Salvation Army is a humbug; they are come to turn the town upside down. Oh, hallelujah! That is just what the Lord is going to help us to do. Temple crowded every night, hundreds cannot get in. Everything in good order, police very kind. 40 prisoners taken in the past week – some of the worst drunkards in the town. Free and Easy on Saturday night, grand time which will never be forgotten in Camborne, when 32 testified for the Master.

Sunday, at 7 am glorious time; 115 present. Grand open-air meetings, Town all of a stir. Temple crowded all day, hundreds could not get in. Evening, penitents rushing to the feet of Jesus and getting gloriously saved. Every society in the town seems to be roused and are holding special services and souls are being saved. They say it is through the Army coming to Camborne.

From, 'The War Cry', March 1882.

This is just one example of what was happening here. More reports can be seen from the War Cry in future months/years.
