SHIRLEY (Captain Drake) - On Monday we marched towards Southampton to meet the Southampton contingent midway.
The whole force marched to Shiriey and drove the devil in all directions. Afterwards this brave band of Soldiers, to the number of over 400, sat down to a monstrous tea in the Salvation Malt House, After tea the Soldiers formed fours, and marched through Shirley routing the enemy, taking several prisoners. At seven o'clock a real Hosanna Meeting was held, when over 100 testified to the saving and keeping power.
From, "The War Cry," page 3, 12th January 1882.
I do not know where the meetings were held.
