Fishponds - Salvation Army

Date: 1882  ·  Place: Fishponds, Gloucestershire  ·  Type: National well

The Fishponds Soldiers have just celebrated their first anniversary, for which they have much cause for thankfulness, for God hath indeed wrought wonders among them in one short year.

A great many of the most notorious characters have been rescued—have bean saved—and today they are living monuments of God's love, mercy and power.

Sunday was a most glorious day. We marched out in the morning to Rodney Hill, about six miles, hundreds, it not thousands, of people following us.

Afternoon, a real Hallelujah Free-and-Easy, in which it was difficult to close, in order to go for rations, and to prepare for the evening meeting.

At night, the Barracks, which is a splendid wooden building, was cremmed to excess, and God's presence wonderfully near all the way through...

From, "The War Cry," page 2, 16th March 1882.

I do not know where the meetings were held.
