Old Basford - Salvation Army

Date: 1882  ·  Place: Old Basford, Nottinghamshire  ·  Type: National well

(Capt. Emma Trigger). -Secretary Bingham writes :"Last Sunday, we had two cornets, and three sisters leading with tambourines, which will never be forgotten at Old Basiord. We began the day well. One soul at the seven o'clock Knee-drill. Open-airs grand all day. Soldiers well equipped for the war The Barracks at night were packed, and a vety powertul meeting. The Captain got so filled with the power that she fell under its weight. Six souls out. This Station has been down, but we are getting lifted up. The Soldiers never were so determined to be real as they are now.

From, "The War Cry," page 3, 2nd March 1882.

The past week has been a most blessed time to our souls. Hallelujah! We have found that the Lord is true to His promise to be with His children. The devil is raging and trying to upset us, but the Lord is on our side and souls are getting saved. We are believing for a lot more who are holding just on the edge of the pool. Our prayer is, “Oh, Lord, help them to surrender.”

From, 'The War Cry', May 1882.

This does not sound too much like a revival, but the Lord had been moving for some time around Nottingham, and there have been several reports over the months, but none had quite reached my criteria.

This is just one example of what was happening here. More reports can be seen from the War Cry in future months/years.

Sunday was a day that will not be soon forgotten here. The big drum, assisted by cornets and tambourines helped us wonderfully. Barracks packed at night and 29 crying for mercy.

From, 'The War Cry', July 1882.

I do not know where the meetings were held.
