Belper - Salvation Army

Date: 1882  ·  Place: Belper, Derbyshire  ·  Type: National well

(Capt. Harris).-The past week has been a week of blessing to our souls: the testimonies of the Soldiers are cheering. Saturday night our open-air was grand. The Free-and-Easy inside was a blessed time. At the Watch-night service it was grand to be there. One poor drunkard cried to God for mercy, and, in a short time, be began to sing

"Take my poor heart and let it be for ever closed to all but Thee."

And we shouted and praised God altogether for His goodness. We consecrated ourselves afresh to Him, and shouts of 'glory' ascended up to Heaven, as we felt the Lord had accepted the offering. We had good times all day on Sunday. At night the place was packed; and, at the close, three surrendered.

From, "The War Cry,", page 3, 19th January 1882.

I do not know where the meetings were held.
