Worksop - Salvation Army

Date: 1881-1882  ·  Place: Worksop, Nottinghamshire  ·  Type: National well

Sunday was a high day with his Corps. The open-air marches and meetings were better than ever. The crowd standing round ours on Sunday night listened with wrapped attention to the testimonies of our soldiers. Upon arrival at the Barracks we found them full, except the platform. Captain MartIn and Lieutenant Bell spoke for Jesus and while she spoke the power of God fell upon the people and praise the Lord 16 souls sought to make their peace with God, making 30 for the week we believe. Holiness unto the Lord is the secret of our success.

From, 'The War Cry', November 1881.

We are still making headway at this Station. Truly the Lord of Hosts is with us. We have had some glorious times. Souls saved nearly every night of the week. Sunday night we had a crowded Barracks. Deep conviction and one soul. We are still going in for more of God. Six more souls.

From, "The War Cry," page 3, 19th January 1882.

(Supply)- (Lieut Jones)- We are getting the victory, God is with us at every meeting, and much of his presence is felt. The congregations get larger every night, and some have found their way to Jesus. On Sunday, five souls came out publicly and confessed Christ, and thay still continue saved, and speaking for God. Sunday night's meeting was brought to a happy close; their Soldiers expressing their determination to stick to The Army and God. May God strengthen the 200th Corps and give them victory after victory.

From, "The War Cry," page 3, 16th March 1882.

I do not know where the meetings were held.
