Grimsby - Salvation Army

Date: 1882  ·  Place: Grimsby, Lincolnshire  ·  Type: National well

GRIMSBY I. (Capt Downey): On Sunday night, long before the time to begin, the Barracks were full: splendid order. Brother Cooper who was leaving the town spoke with power and told how that through the Army he was going home saved and happy: then "Happy Charley" sang a song, which brought the glory down, then Captain Byford, who had paid us a visit, followed with a few red-hot shots, and as the folk swayed to and fro under the power of God, we made sure of a big haul, but only five came out, all big men. Hundreds going away under conviction. We closed with real Hallelujah "go".
