At the opening of this fort, the Barracks were filled with dense masses of people, and as the flow was incessant, the police had to interfere to reduce dangerous overcrowding. There was a great deal of interruption, but the Soldiers, during the service, looked up to God and as a consequence of their faith, four precious souls came out to the fountain opened for sin and uncleanliness and professed to find pardon and cleansing in the Blood. But at the evening service we are told, despite the great repugnance the Scotch people have to come out boldly to sue for pardon, twenty-two came to Christ and were set free.
