After a glorious meeting at Govern on New Year's, Eve Iast. Captain Newton and I returned to Anderston for a Watch-night service. When we arrived at the Hall, Main Street, Anderston, we found 200 of our Soldiers waiting to watch out the old year 1881 and welcome in what we must prove to be the dearest year yet of our lives, 1882—a year when thousands of the enemy shall ground their arms and surrender to the King.
We commenced the meeting by singing- "Oh! for a heart to praise my God" and immedintoly the glory of the Lord seemed to fill the house and His power to possess our hearts. It was a never to-be-forgotten time. Just before twelve o'clock, we all took hold of hands, formed a circle, and as the old year was quietly passing away, we let everything displeasng to God pass away with it into the fountain, and thus were prepared for a Happy New Year.
The Soldiers with one heart and with tears in their eyes laid hold powerfully on God, so that we felt the place to be terrible with His presence.
The New Year came in finding us all single for God and His cause, and married to Him and His work. After some more prayer we all sat down to a wedding breakfast, which was prepared in the Barracks. This over, we each gave a word of testimony all round, and if the Soldiers will only be true to the vows they made this morning through this year, victories unprecedented are certain to follow.
Wa have seen some excellent fruits of this meeting already, and are confident there is more to follow.

Main Street is now Argyle Street - not sure where the Hall was in the street.
