(Capt, Black), —Private W. Tudor writes :- "During, the past week, which has been one of grand and glorious victories, something like sixty-seven souls have professed to find peace in a sin-pardoning God. Hallelujah! But, praise God! that is nothing in comparison to what we shall have yet. We mean to go forward in the strength of our great Commander, Jesus Christ, and bring Birkenhead to His feet.
From, "The War Cry," page 3, 16th February 1882.
A wonderful work is going on here; Barracks packed. Overflow meeting at 500 in the lower room; crowds outside; many disappointed and had to go away. 35 came out to the penitent form. Something will have to be done to get a larger place; there are hundreds who would come in if there was room. If the work goes on in the future as during the five months the Army has been here, the drink traffic must fall all together. Hallelujah!
From, 'The War Cry', page 3, 2nd March 1882.
(Capt. Whorton) -Lieutenant Reid writes: "We arrived at this Station on Thursday, to take charge. A good band of Soldiers welcomed us, and on Friday night we bad a grand Holiness Meeting, twenty-seven came out for the blessing of clean heart. Glory to God! we mean this Station for Jesus. On Sunday God gave us the victory, and at night twenty-eight souls; two Halls packed, and hundreds ourtside. We mean Birkeanhead for Jesus."
