(Capt. Joe Emmerson) - We are having glourious meetings, night after night sinners are crying out for mercy. Thirty three have stepped into the liberty. During the past week, in one of the Free-and-Easy Meetings "Happy Sam",who for thirty years was a heavy drinker, and who had wasted hundreds of pounds in drink and fines, who has been in bed for six weeks with a broken leg -the outcome of a drunken bout; has been a great terror to his wife and children, who many a Saturday night, have had to run from the house, and had to remain out all night in terror of their lives - is now saved. Sam says, since he has joined the ranks of the Army, about six weeks ago, he has had more happiness than in fifty years service of the devil. Hallelujah!
From, "The War Cry," page 3, 16th March 1882.We are still rolling the old chariot along. 16 went their way to Calvary on Sunday last and glory be to God they all testified that the Blood of Jesus had cleansed them from sin. At one of our experience meetings, a young man got up and told the people that he had tried all the so-called pleasures this world could offer, namely, horse racing, card playing, billiards et cetera but found no true happiness till he came to Jesus. God is indeed blessing us on every hand. At our Friday's Holiness muster, seven soldiers received sanctification and gave all up for their Lord and Master.
From, 'The War Cry', May 1882.
I do not know where the meetings were held.
