Peterhead (1841)

John Bowes was a Primitive Methodist evangelist who had some large meetings in Peterhead in the summer of 1841. About 1,500 would be at his evening meetings at the Market Cross. At one, 'the truth seemed to bear down on them with great effect and to carry all before it.'

'The Autobiography or History of the Life of John Bowes', by John Bowes, page 285.

Additional Information

I do not know where the Market Cross was where he spoke.
