Evangelical Union Church - Carluke

Date: 1859-1861  ·  Place: Carluke, Lanarkshire  ·  Type: National well

In summer 1859 the minister set up many open-air meetings in and around the town. Deep impressions were made and numbers were converted. Soon five or six weekly prayer meetings had sprung up.

From Tom Leniie's, 'Scotland Ablaze', page 104.

In February 1861 (In Orchard which is now part of Carluke), two young brothers set up a meeting and, 'It pleased the Lord to help us and He has continued to be in our midst ever since. There is scarcely a house where there has not been some awakening, less or more. In one house we can count not less than eight converts.'

From, 'The Wynd', 23/2/1861.
