After the Disruption, those who had left for the Free Church met normally at the cattle market-place and sometimes at Fort Green. There was soon a revival going on. The minister, William Grant, experienced the great 1859 revival and the one in 1874, but said that this one had deeper earnestness and there was more abundant fruit.
