James Guthrie

James Guthrie was hanged by the Mercat Cross that was in the middle of the High Street, opposite Anchor Close. The left-hand photo has Anchor Close on the extreme right, and according to an old map, the Mercat Cross (which can be seen in the right-hand photo - it has been moved) was in the middle of the road close to Anchor Close.
