St Just - Parish Cross

Date: 1743-1789  ·  Place: St Just, Cornwall  ·  Type: Individual well

One of the places where the Wesleys often preached was at the parish cross which stood roughly where the south-west gates now stand. On July 2nd 1745 John Wesley was arrested by the cross just as he was concluding his sermon.

This cross stood just outside the church, beyond the gate that you can see in the photo. John Wesley used to preach beside it.
