Although there is a Seventeenth Century house with a sign that says he lived in that house it is unlikely that it survived the fire of 1646 when stores in the church caught alight. 300 houses in the upper part of the city were destroyed. There is also a suggestion that Baxter lived elsewhere in the Close.
