Chinley Independent Chapel

Grace Bennet was the Grace Murray whom John Wesley very nearly married. If it was not for Charles Wesley riding to where Grace was staying and marching her off to marry John Bennet, one of Wesley's lieutenants, she would have been buried in Wesley's Chapel in London.

This Chapel was founded by William Bagshawe, the Apostle of the Peak District, in 1711. It is also the burial place of John and Grace Bennet, whose grave you can see in the foreground of this photo.
