Brough

Date: 1849  ·  Place: Brough, Cumbria  ·  Type: Local well

In the winter of 1849 and the following Spring, there was a great spiritual upheaval throughout the whole county, and it is estimated that 400 souls were added to the various sections of the Church of Christ in Westmorland at that time. There was another revival in 1863-4 when James Warnes was there, and the whole circuit was stimulated to a remarkable extent.

‘Northern Primitive Methodism’ by W M Patterson, published 1909, page 116.
