"Feb 25th: I drove out to Balbiggie to preach at the Secession Church. The man who drove me...told me that of late, especially since our meetings began here, there had been an astonishing change on the face of the country round in point of morality and anxiety about religion... The hour of the meeting was six; the people were many of them assembled at two o'clock and at half-past four when I went, the church was full."
