Genoch (1862)

One of the most remarkable meetings seen in this quarter was held here last Tuesday evening, by the Rev. Mr Paterson, of Edinburgh. It was a very busy time, but the people, as they heard much about Mr Paterson, came in great numbers to hear him till the chapel was crowded. The meeting began at eight o'clock, but it is quite impossible to give any description of it. The blessing was pronounced four times before the people retired, and it was only after twelve o'clock they left altogether when Mr Paterson said he could stay no longer. About a hundred, at the east, remained for conversation as anxious and it would have moved the hardest heart to see the scene; men and women sobbing and weeping.
